Chapter Nine – Infiltrated
The ride was so long and the smell inside of the van was so bad that by the time we pulled up to the house in southern Maryland I had a splitting headache and felt weak in the knees. I had been nodding in and out of sleep and that was probably the only thing that had saved me from throwing up from the odor.
I jumped frantically when I heard banging on the side of the van.
“Let’s go! Get them out! Haul them inside! Time is money!” the ringleader of the gunmen was screaming and banging. I guess fear and shock was the best tactic he could come up with to ensure compliance. All of the girls who had fallen asleep jumped up and started looking around wild eyed and scared to death. A few of them were mumbling and a few were crying already. I looked out at the house and it looked like something from a scary movie. It was a non-descript wooden house with a long porch outside. All of the windows were completely covered with shutters and then thick metal bars covering the shutters. A prison. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I took it all in. A fucking, haunted prison was what it looked like there.
There were so many men with guns standing around outside of the house, you would’ve thought we were really being offloaded at a prison camp or something. There were armed guards in front of the house, at the side of the house and on the porch.
“Out! Out! No funny business or you die!” one of the gun toting men screamed as he waved his gun in our faces. I quickly wondered how tough he would be if he didn’t have the fucking machine gun. How tough would any of them be against vans filled with desperate girls ready to fight for our lives? It was no use in dwelling on that idea because the fact still remained those men had big guns that could destroy us on impact.
We loaded out of the vans one by one. We were lined up and again, I became extremely nervous that I would be called out or noticed. The men were discussing our fate when suddenly one of the girls at the opposite end from where I was standing collapsed. It was just like someone had pushed her roughly to the ground the way she fell. It was the same girl that had thrown up and had gotten abused for being sick back at the docks in Baltimore. Two of the men rushed over to her.
“Get up! Stop this shit and get to your feet right now!” one of the men screamed at her.
“I…I…can’t,” the girl croaked out, lifting one of her hands in surrender. “Make her get up now! We cannot have the boss come out here and find her this way! Get up!” A bunch of the men rushed over to her and surrounded her.
